Dance Nation- Broken Femur

This is the practical prosthetic I created to show a broken femur that occurs in the first 5 minutes of the play Dance Nation.

Constructed from a flesh-colored knee brace, stretch fabric, foam rod, IV tubing and bag.

The knee pad was folded halfway up at top of show, to hide under the actor’s skirt and it was pulled into position as the actor fell. The IV bag full of ‘blood’ was attached to the actor’s hip and allowed them to control the flow of blood that escaped from the ‘broken bone’.
